Fortnite: Battle Royale comes on mobile devices, Epic announced. The most interesting thing is that it is apparently the same experience of 100 players as on PS4 or PC! "The same gameplay, the same map, the same content, the same weekly updates," Epic said in an article on forum: Battle Royale. "We believe this is the future of games, the same game on all platforms, graphics and action-quality console, play when you want, where you want." Regarding support for cross-play, Epic said that you will be able to join in a team and play with friends on different platforms. It sounds pretty good and it will be interesting to see how it works in practice. Entries will open Monday for an iOS invitation only; Android will follow "in the coming months". You will be able to sign up for the Fornite site starting March 12 and you will receive an "soon after" invitation by email if you are accepted. Fortnite's mobile edition requires an internet connection (of course), and an iPhone 6S / SE, iPad Mini 4, iPad Pro, iPad Air 2, iPad 2017 or later. Right now, it seems that only Battle Royale is on the mobile, not Save the World. Battle Royale is free on consoles and PCs, supported by microtransactions (which are only cosmetics) and we expect the mobile edition to follow the same format. We will report more details on the Battle Royale mobile edition when they are announced. Epic Nick Chester has now provided some information on how the cross-game will work, saying it will be an opt-in. In other words, you will be able to play with friends on other platforms, but you will not be forced to join the game with someone on your mobile phone if you're on your PS4 or PC.
